Young Marines Program of the Marine Corps League:  Citizens in the Making

There are 240+ Young Marine Units across the country, and the Program continues to grow.  We would like to see the pace of that growth increase because we view the Program as a very important character building experience for many boys and girls, and believe it can make a positive difference in their lives.

So what?  ....Big Deal!  ....So just who are the ‘Young Marines’ and what makes the Program so special?

Purpose of the Young Marine Program

From The Website for Young Marines:

« To promote the mental, moral, and physical development of its members.

« To instill in its members the ideals of honesty, fairness, courage, respect, loyalty, dependability, attention to duty, love of God, and fidelity to our country and its institutions.

« To stimulate an interest in, and respect for, academic achievement and the history and traditions of the United States of America.

« To promote physical fitness through the conduct of physical activities, including participation in athletic events and close order drill.

« To advocate a drug-free lifestyle through a continual drug prevention education program.

The Young Marine Program is for boys and girls, ages 8 through completion of high school.  The Young Marine Program is registered with the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) (CFC #2141).  All of us and our neighbors and friends and family can contribute to the Program.  You can volunteer time, or resources, or donate funds or materiel.

We are living in an era of too many at-risk youth, too many unsupervised children, too many young people with no positive, forward-thinking role models…the Young Marine Program can address these problems.
